About the Author

Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879–1950) was a renowned Hindu sage and philosopher, celebrated for his teachings on self-inquiry and non-dualism. Born Venkataraman Iyer in Tamil Nadu, India, he experienced a profound spiritual awakening at the age of 16, which led him to embrace a life of deep contemplation and asceticism. Ramana Maharshi is best known for advocating the practice of self-inquiry ("Who am I?") as a path to realization of the true self, which he identified as pure consciousness or the absolute reality.
His teachings, regarded as direct and accessible, transcended cultural and geographical boundaries, attracting numerous devotees from across the globe to his ashram at the foot of the sacred mountain Arunachala.
